Engaging Communities

Trillium’s belief that music belongs to everyone motivates us to seek out audiences that may not have direct access or interest in classical music, particularly in its most traditional formats. We love expanding our performances beyond concert halls to meet new listeners and being creative in our programming to increase our musical reach.

Increasing Arts Accessibility

The primary goal of our non-profit is focused on increasing access to the arts – bringing classical music to those audiences who may be or feel excluded from traditional venues and presentations. These programs are tailored towards the communities we are meeting and feature more direct conversation between performer and audience than traditional concerts.

Trillium has brought these programs to:

Veterans Home and Adult Day Cares:

Programs thoughtfully assembled for the demographics of these spaces and meant to provide a meaningful, collective musical experience. These events often feature folk songs, single movements of classical favorites, jazz charts and frequent opportunities for in-concert dialogue between us and our audiences.

Elementary Schools:

Education-based concerts, giving young listeners the tools to appreciate classical music through demonstrations and engaging presentation, as well as playing to their interests with several interactive musical experiences. These programs often feature pop songs, with opportunities to sing or clap along, short movements of classical quartets and groovy contemporary works.

Libraries, Museums and Churches:

Concerts focused on simply moving classical music into an accessible, community space for free. These concerts feature more traditional Trillium programs.

Presenting the Traditional, Untraditionally

Trillium also seeks to broaden our audiences by presenting concerts that bridge the gap between art and entertainment, creating programs that adapt classical music to more accessible formats.

These are often concerts aimed towards audiences who technically have access to traditional classical music spaces, but may not have the interest in experiencing classical music there.

“Cocktails and Chamber Music” Concerts

Performed in bars and lounges, these concerts offer an informal, celebratory overview of music over a wide span of time presented alongside games, stories, and, of course, drinks. Our goal with these concerts is to demystify classical music – presenting it alongside other great genres like movie music, rock, jazz, and pop – and give our listeners an evening of enjoyment.

Sight-Reading Parties

Aimed at musicians of all levels, these events offer an opportunity for amateur musicians from community orchestras, universities and clubs to make chamber music alongside professional musicians. These concerts re-enforce our belief that music is best enjoyed as a collective, collaborative exchange.
