“What sets the Trillium Quartet apart is their remarkable ability to build trust and rapport with our students. Their presence has been central to fostering the collaborative and nurturing culture that defines the Kinhaven community.”
– Deborah Buck, Co-executive Director and Artistic Director – Kinhaven Music School
At the heart of Trillium’s mission is the belief that classical music belongs to everyone. It is this belief that informs all aspects of our approach to education as well – we value the art of connecting authentically with our students and offering an individualized method for each musician. We believe that the best teaching is non-hierarchical and when we value our students as experts of their learning process, we can use our own expertise in musical education more effectively.
We also believe that music provides a unique model for growth on both artistic and individual levels. We strive to instill values of communication, kindness, collaboration and shared responsibility in each student, and show them how these skills make them both better musicians and more engaged members of their communities. Above all, we believe that music-making should be rooted in joy and strive to educate with this joy in mind.
